Our Concrete

SCC - Self Consolidating Concrete

Self Consolidating concrete can be defined as a highly flowable, non-segregating concrete that has the ability to spread by its own weight while filling the formwork and encasing the reinforcement without any form of mechanical consolidation.

  • Walls
  • Columns
  • Slab – on grade / suspended
  • Floor Leveling - <4” & >1” (some restrictions and/or limitations apply)
  • Architectural finished / Exposed surfaced
  • Tight or intricate formwork and/or congested reinforcement
  • Where traditional concrete can’t go, SCC will flow!!!
  • Self-Consolidating Concrete increases the finishability while at the same time reducing remedial work and placement costs.  It can be pressure pumped resulting in less work and can lower overall labour.
  • SCC can be placed at a faster rate with little to no vibration required resulting in a dramatic savings in placement and labour costs.
  • Challenging designs thought to be impossible can now be achieved with SCC.  Due to its fluidity, SCC can flow into inaccessible heavy congested reinforcement easier than traditional concrete.

Why choose SCC?

  • SCC can be placed at a fast rate resulting in faster placement times.
  • Quicker turnaround of forms due to earlier strength gain.
  • More uniform surface finish reduces remedial surface work after the fact
  • Restricted areas or areas congested with steel. Or where traditional concrete, even with the use of super plasticizers can’t go, SCC will flow.
  • Improves pumpability and uniformity of cast-in-place concrete by doing away with any means of vibration
  • Increases jobsite safety by being able to place concrete with fewer people and less equipment
  • Reduction in jobsite noise pollution by eliminating noisy vibrators, generators and/or other methods of consolidating
  • Reduction in man hours and overall jobsite material cost reduction
